About our Instructors
Our instructors are out there in the real world doing production and development work. They are not full-time trainers that learn extensively from books to teach their classes. This real-world experience sets Ascend apart in the world of training and enables our classes to be much more versatile than other companies.
Our teaching style in our workshops is completely hands-on. Our instructors are encouraged to incorporate specific questions into examples during the workshops
Offering Hands-On Adobe, Avid and Quark Classes
Our classes are offered in the Chicago Loop and Suburban Deerfield, or onsite at your location.
Ascend offers small classes in Adobe CS3, Avid and Quark classes in both locations. All classes are taught by top industry professionals in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver and Flash.

Jori has been teaching for over 13 years in the Chicago area, and is a featured speaker at many conferences such as The HOW and Creative Suite Conferences. She is also a Photoshop Technical Advisor for Macmillan Publishing.

Rich has been teaching web development workshops for over 13 years. He is also an avid web developer with a growing consulting business and a BA in art with a Masters in Sculpture.

Kevin is a certified Macromedia Developer and instructor with over 17 years teaching experience. In addition to his teaching, he owns his own consulting business.
Laurie

Laurie has been teaching for over 15 years,
in addition to her freelance work. Her main clients include McDonalds
and Andersen Consulting.
Tim

Tim has served on the advisory committee of the Illinois Institute of Art's graphics, animation and multimedia program, and serves on the board of the Association for Multimedia Communications. In addition to his teaching at both Ascend and Columbia College in Chicago, he is the owner of his own multimedia company.

Alex has been doing training, and consulting for more than 8 years. He is also a web-based systems architect, designer, developer, and trainer with over 20 years of IT experience. His certifications include: Macromedia ColdFusion Developer and Trainer, Sun JAVA2 Certified Programmer, and Microsoft Certified Systems Designer.

Jim has over 25-years computer-based design and publishing. He is an Adobe Press Author, and teaches InDesign, XML, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat. Jim is the author of Photoshop Complete, and was the Technical Editor for Personal Publishing/ Business Publishing magazine, and the Editor of Design Graphics World Magazine.

Ron is very active in multimedia & web development in addition
to teaching. He has been teaching multimedia applications for over
8 years. In addition to his teaching at Ascend, he has taught at
Truman College in Chicago, and is a freelance developer.

Michael brings a broad range of skills to the classroom. He has
managed teams for Abelson-Taylor, and brings his real-world print
production, illustration and retouching skills to the classroom.

Michael, has been instrumental in the formation of the Chicago Macromedia User Group,(which is a SIG of the Association for Multimedia Communications) and serves as the Chair of this group. He also runs the local Chicago Area Adobe User Group which meets at Ascend Training.

Paul has been teaching video production for over 10 years. He is a videographer with strong skills in color correction and special effects.
Lynn

Lynn has been working in Illustrator and Photoshop for over 10 years, with an absolute love and respect for these programs. She does freelance design for a private label packaging group and ad creation for a family publication. She is also a photographer for a stock photography company.
Lin

Lin holds two master's degrees from Indiana University, in physics and computer science. She has held positions with cutting-edge technology companies, and is an expert programmer. She brings an array of knowledge to the classroom.
